BiPSU climbs to 174th in global innovation rankings

Tacloban City, (Leyte) The Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) rose significantly in the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), climbing 59 places to 174th from 233rd in 2025. The improvement highlights BiPSU’s growing international recognition as a center for academic and operational excellence.

The university’s progress is seen not only in its overall rank but also in its expanded presence across WURI categories. In 2025, BiPSU was recognized in three categories. By 2026, it expanded to 16 categories, showing a broader commitment to innovation and societal development.

BiPSU performed strongly in crisis management and global resilience this year. It placed 4th globally in the Crisis Management category and 8th in SDG- and ESG-Based Responses to Past and Present Global Challenges.

In response to the milestone, the University President expressed sincere gratitude and highlighted the team effort behind the achievement.
