Tacloban City-Public sector job fairs will be expanded nationwide as the Civil Service Commission (CSC), through Chairperson Atty. Marilyn B. Yap, and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), represented by Undersecretary Benedicto Ernesto R. Bitonio Jr., formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 1 May. Director IV Grace R. Belgado-Saqueton of CSC Regional Office XII represented the CSC Chairperson during the ceremonial signing held at the KCC Convention and Events Center, KCC Mall of Gensan, as part of the nationwide Labor Day job fair. The MOA establishes a framework for coordination between CSC and DOLE in the joint planning, implementation, and promotion of CSC-sponsored job fairs and related employment facilitation activities. The partnership aims to broaden access to government employment by bringing together national government agencies and prospective applicants in organized job fair settings. Under the agreement, CSC Regional Offices will coordinate with DOLE Regional Offices and Public Employment Service Offices in organizing job fairs and encouraging government agencies within their jurisdictions to participate. CSC will also join one-stop shop government services during job fairs by providing information on civil service eligibility requirements, training programs, and available government vacancies through dedicated booths. DOLE, through its Regional Offices, will provide technical and administrative support before, during, and after the job fairs. It will also help coordinate participation requirements for agencies and promote the events through its platforms. Both agencies underscored the importance of strengthened inter-agency collaboration to make employment programs more accessible, efficient, and responsive to jobseekers. Labor Day job fairs Labor Day job fairs held in various venues nationwide served as one-stop venues for employers, jobseekers, and government agencies, reducing the time, effort, and cost of job search and recruitment. Jobseekers also accessed services from partner agencies, including the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, and Department of Information and Communications Technology. DOLE clinics, including its Legal Service, the National Wages and Productivity Commission, and the Occupational Safety and Health Center, provided consultation and advocacy services. Other agencies, including the Social Security System, Philippine Statistics Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, and Bureau of Internal Revenue, also offered pre-employment documentation services to applicants.
