TACLOBAN CITY – A member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) is now facing a robbery complaint before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of the Department of Justice in Abuyog, Leyte after he was arrested last November 4, 2025 for robbing a businesswoman.
Police Officer Orly Cumba Corsiga,37, of Purok 4,Poblacion Zone 2,Javier,Leyte and assigned at the Eastern Samar Police Office in Borongan City, is now detained at the Abuyog Police Station and now faces a robbery case after he was arrested by members of the Abuyog PNP in a hospital in nearby Baybay City last November 4.
Businesswoman Jocelyn Villar Turalda,30,single,of Sitio Malangto,Brgy.Pagsaan,Abuyog,Leyte filed the robbery complaint against Police Officer Corsiga after she was robbed by the police officer last November 4,2025 at 4PM at Bagsakan Area in Brgy.Nalibunan,Abuyog town.
Leyte Senior Asst.Prosecutor Junery Bagunas told The Manila Times that the case against the policeman will undergo the 10-day preliminary investigation by Asst.Provincial Prosecutor Co. Police Col.Dionesio DC Apas,Jr.,Philippine National Police (PNP) Leyte Provincial Director,said he is deeply disappointed that one of their Police officer is allegedly involved in the criminal act. Apas said that while he commend the personnel on the ground,he assures the public that the matter will be dealt.
“The Leyte Police Provincial Office will assure the public that this case will be pursued with transparency and fairness,” Col.Apas said.
Atty. Risty Sibay, National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM ) Region 8 Director,told The Manila Times that they will be monitoring the update of the criminal and administrative complaint against the involved Police officer.
