Biliran Province Gives P6.28M Boost to EVRAA Athletes

Tacloban City-The provincial government of Biliran has allocated P6.28 million to support the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) athletes.

The funding aims to aid the athletes’ training and participation in the upcoming regional sports meet. This move demonstrates the province’s commitment to promoting sports development and nurturing young talent in the region.

Governor Rogelio Espina, has reaffirmed its strong commitment to youth and sports development with the approval of Php 6,285,300 in financial support for the province’s athletes competing in the upcoming Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) Meet in Baybay City this coming March 1- 7.

The funding package will include a budget for the Special Education Fund (SEF) in the amount of Php 2,200,000, and Php 4,085,300 from the Provincial General Fund, ensuring comprehensive assistance for the province’s official delegation.

A total of 706 delegates from Biliran, composed of student-athletes, coaches, and support personnel, will benefit from the provincial sponsorship.

The assistance will cover meals of athletes and coaches from the start of concentration training until the duration of the EVRAA Meet, as well as official uniforms, transportation, and other necessary logistical requirements.

Governor Roger emphasized that investing in sports is an investment in the future of Biliran’s youth.

Our young athletes are ambassadors of the province,” Governor Roger said. “By providing them with full support, from training to competition, we are giving them the opportunity to focus on excellence, discipline, and sportsmanship. We believe in their potential and we are proud of them.” Espina added.

The EVRAA Meet is one of the most prestigious regional sporting events in Eastern Visayas, bringing together the best student-athletes from various school divisions. It serves as a proving ground for emerging talents and a pathway for athletes who aspire to compete at higher levels.

Provincial officials noted that the support reflects the administration’s continuing efforts to promote holistic development among the youth, recognizing sports as a powerful tool in shaping character, teamwork, and leadership.

The Provincial Government expressed confidence that the Biliran delegation will compete with determination and pride, carrying with them the support and encouragement of the entire province.

Through sustained investment in sports and youth programs, the provincial leadership continues to strengthen its vision of empowering the next generation of Biliranons to achieve excellence, both on and off the field.
